My research interests include: (1) studying how risk for depression, other forms of psychopathology, and problems with psychosocial functioning is transmitted in families with depressed parents and (2) studying developmental pathways leading from individual differences in early psychosocial, environmental, and biological risk factors to depression during adolescence and adulthood, with a focus on understanding gender differences in mechanisms of risk. This research is based on developmental psychopathology principles and investigates the interplay among a wide array of psychosocial, environmental, and biological factors beginning early in development and continuing through adulthood.
